Consulting and Construction Services

We have undertaken many projects on our farm and on other farms over the years, and have gained experience in the design and installation of numerous types of farm infrastructure.  As a licensed civil engineer, Jeff can provide consulting services and stamped designs.  Our specialties include stream restoration, water management, and livestock water supply systems.  Please contact Jeff for more information about how we can help you accomplish your farm development and restoration goals.

About Our Farm

Picture
We strive to continually improve the ecological health of our farm through sustainable farming techniques. We never use pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or hormones on our land or animals.  Any animal that needs veterinary intervention receives the best care we can give but is sold off the farm rather than being butchered for meat or kept for breeding stock.  We enjoy feeding our family and we are honored to share our products with our community.

We raise beef and lamb on pasture. Our sheep and cows grow fat on nothing but organic minerals, the diverse mixture of grasses, forbs, and legumes that grow in our pastures, and hay if we run out of stockpiled grass before spring. We practice rotational grazing to improve forage production, soil fertility, and the health of our livestock.

Please feel free to come out to the farm to visit and see our farming practices firsthand. Also, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Our Story

Our story began in 2012. Jeff and I (Katie) met at a stream restoration conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am a native of North Carolina and was working in Atlanta at the time, while Jeff (a native of Georgia) was working in North Carolina near my hometown. After we returned home we went on our first date and have been inseparable ever since. We were married in the fall of 2014 and welcomed our first child, Henry, in September of 2016.

These past few years have been extremely fun, eventful, and productive. Looking back I can't believe all the things that we have accomplished. We bought our farm, built 2 miles of fence, renovated a 1940s farmhouse, had a child, raised sheep and cows.

We have been very fortunate to be inspired by so many other farmers practicing regenerative agriculture in our area. Just a few miles from us we have an excellent source of pasture raised pork from A Way of Life Farm. They also grow some of the most delicious produce I have ever eaten. Underwood Family Farm is also very closely located to our farm. They sell delicious organic raw milk. Both of these farmers sell at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

We have had a lot of love, support, and help along the way and are very thankful for our wonderful community and family. We hope to improve the health of our land and the health of those that eat our products for many years to come. Please check our blog to follow the adventures of Belflower Farm!
