South Poll Cattle

South Poll cattle are bred to graze and thrive in the hot and humid southeastern United States. We learned the hard way that many common English breeds of cattle (such as Angus and Hereford) struggled on our fescue dominated pastures. Introducing South Poll genetics into our herd has greatly improved pregnancy rates and our ability to finish calves on grass alone! We are excited about the future of our herd. We will have South Poll bulls and heifers for sale occasionally. Please contact us for more information.
PictureThis photo was taken a few years ago after recently purchasing a few South Poll cows, this image shows our South Poll cattle grazing in the sun while all of our other cows hide in the background under shade trees.

Hair Sheep

Picture

We knew that we wanted to raise sheep exclusively for meat and not for wool, so we selected "hair-sheep" breeds that do not require shearing.

We started our sheep herd with just four Katahdin ewes and one ram in 2016. After reading about the amazing thriftiness and parasite resistance of St. Croix sheep, we purchased a St. Croix ram from a breeder in South Carolina who has bred for parasite resistance and performance on grass for decades.

We plan to continue to incorporate St. Croix genetics into our herd and to use terminal sires from heavier breeds such as Dorper and Katahdin to produce pasture raised and grass-finished lamb. We will occasionally have ewes and rams for sale. Please contact us for more information.
